Hunter, back in the early 1980s a fellow pulled into the Top of Georgia in
an Airstream 5th wheel -- sort of. What he has done was take a regular
trailer and cut off the A frame. He welded on to the stub of the frame up
close to the skin an upside down  "J" shaped heavy metal bracket the short
end of which attached to the 5th wheel receiver in the bed of his truck.  It
was a pretty big contraption that he had fabricated to make it a 5th wheel
and didn't seem to accomplish a whole lot other than he said it was easier
to tow and had a shorted turning radius.
