[A/S] Heating
With the electricity prices out of control in San Diego, I was stunned by
my electricity bills during the winter months.
I used a 1500 watt space heater at night to keep the coach warm. At times
I would go to bed under a couple quilts without the heater but innevitably,
at about 5AM I would jump up and turn it on.
The result was a tripling of my electric bill from the fall.
So I finally got the WAVE 3 catalytic gas heater. It cost $200 but is well
worth it. I have heated the coach all night for two weeks as well as used
my normal hot water heater and stove. I'm still on the first 10 gallon
bottle of gas.
At that rate I will save the cost of the WAVE 3 in less than one year. I
was very lucky that there was a gas outlet right near the door.
I mounted the heater on a piece of oak and used a piano hinge to mount it
to the end corner of the galley. Hooked it up with flex hose.
Now I can point it directly at my bed in the front of the cabin or swivel
it around 180 degrees and warm the rear of the coach. It may not be a
"designer" addition but it is efficient and vital to a guy like me with
tropical blood.
Aloha,
Bob
