Jim,

I did precisely the dumb thing you did.  When I discovered several years ago
that experienced Airstreamers used Reese dual cam sway controls, I went out
and bought a good used set of cams and arms to go with my Reese hitch.

Not knowing any better, I put a dab of wheel bearing grease on the cams
because of the noise.  The next time I towed, (34'A/S) I noticed a decline
in my sway control performance.  I sprayed a little engine degreaser on the
parts, washed it off with a hose, and was back to normal.  As mistakes go,
that one was easy to recover from.

I guess metal to metal contact is not always bad.
