Re: [A/S] Tekonsha Brake Controllers
Rich,
The manual for my Tekonsha says that the adjustment will vary between
hot and cold brakes. They recommend not attempting a final adjustment
until you've made a dozen stops and/or travelled down the road a while.
Remember that the brake magnets are rubbing on the drums all the time,
and apparently, the coefficient of friction changes as they warm up.
The fact that it's on an Airstream has nothing to do with it, they're
all the same. Matter of fact, I think most RVs (trailers) have either
Dexter or Hayes brakes, A/S certainly doesn't build their own. My local
NAPA store had replacement shoes for my '68 GlobeTrotter in stock, they
got the magnets the next day.
I'd personally like the controller mounted by more than Velcro, but it's
up to you, I'm sure. :-)
