A 3KW generator is sufficient to run your A/C, since the A/C only
requires 1200-1500 watts for startup.  After that, the load decreases
considerably.  I run mine from a Honda Eu3000is with no problem.  And
it's quiet.

If you get another brand, you're going to have noise.  Talk to the folks
at your local muffler shop about an add-on auto muffler.  They should be
able to make up the fittings so it will work.

I once had some cabinetry done by a local craftsman who had a generator
in the back of his truck that he'd used a small car muffler with, and it
was really _quiet_. It surely didn't cost as much as the price
difference between a Honda and another brand.

BUT, you probably won't need the generator at all.  I've only used mine
twice, camping in the desert here in Arizona in the summer.
