[A/S] Cost of Camping

Hunter and all,

<gasp>  You didn't have a problem paying $27.00 ?

As much as I'd rather pay $12 for camping, sometimes $27 is the going rate
for a campground located in a good spot where you don't have to fight
traffic and find your way with complicated directions, etc.  (The icy
conditions is something that I'd like to think wasn't a controllable issue).
Hopefully, it just "happened"!

Are there camp grounds associated with clubs that cost less with comparable
amenities as a typical KOA?  If so, I wonder if they're plentiful with good
locations?

I hate to pay "big bucks" for a place and listen to the whine of highway
traffic.  It is one thing to camp with the heater or A/C on and off with the
thermostat, but those darned trucks and cars coming down the hill and across
the bridge of an adjacent highway is for the birds.

I'd like to think I was getting my money's worth with a stay if I could use
a pool/hot tub, and have some decent amenities like level sites, and good
hookups.  Winter camping isn't conducive to pool/hot tub usage in most
cases, so they should lower their rates or give you something extra.....but
they don't.

KOAs especially are structured where your rate is set and that's it!

We've stayed in lots of KOAs with very minimal complaints; they aren't
cheap, but they're usually easy in and out.
