[A/S] Plastic in cold weather

I noticed a comment abut plastic coatings becoming brittle in the 
cold and was reminded of my attempt to erect a mailbox that the snow 
plow had it's way with a couple of weeks ago..
I charged out with a handfull of my favorite "nylon" tie-wraps and it 
might as well have been a handfull of spagetti right out of the box..
The temp was about 10-15f and I could not believe my tie-wraps that I 
have come to keep right next to the duct tape were so useless in the 
cold..I had pieces of plastic flying everywhere...since pop-rivets 
didn't seem appropriate, I reverted to hay wire which is my never 
fail answer to a lot of problems...I guess I will have to keep these 
plastic things away from the Airstream....
