Hi Jim:

There's probably very little difference. Both are polyurethane sealants. 
One is made by Tremco Incorporated, the other by 3M.  If you look at the 
ingredients (I looked at Vulkem 116) you can imagine that there might be 
some minor differences in make-up because it's a VERY complicated mix.

The thing that might make the big difference to A/S owners is that Vulkem 
comes in the color ALUMINUM.  I'll bet that 3M 5200 doesn't, but I don't 
know that for a fact.

The other thing is the price, which is apparently not the same.  If you 
look at West Marine, you'll find that it's about double what a 10 oz 
cartridge of Vulkem is:  About $5.00 vs $10 bucks.
