[A/S] On the road again

I know it's not polite to say "I told you so"... but can I say I'm not surprised?
And it goes without saying that we are delighted.

And by the way, I'm a little delayed in responding because we too are on the road,
on our first prolonged ramble -- from Columbus to Nashville on the
freeways to get out of the cold, then down the Natchez Trace Parkway. That was a
remarkable experience -- over 430 miles without a traffic light or
stop sign, grade separation, almost no traffic, no commercialism of any sort,
pleasant and spacious (though not opulent) campgrounds, beautiful
pines and swamps, real stars -- kind of like having your own private, two-lane
freeway. Pavement is just a tad narrow. At Natchez stayed in the state
park, even better accomadations than the feds -- the two private campgrounds left
something to be desired.

From Natchez we crossed to Nacatoches, from where we followed the old King's
Highway/El Camino Real/Old San Antonio road down to New
Braunfels, stayed in our own driveway. Then down to Brownsville, where we are
staying in a definately over-rated Good Sam's campground. But
notwithstanding the limitations of private enterprise, we are having a great time
-- the dogs love this vagabond life, with new smells nearly every day,
and share an Atkins diet.
