Lately I have been using a lot of polyurethane glue for things.  

When a quick and nasty storm tore the awning off my trailer I was able to 
resurrect it, out in the middle of nowhere, by folding the material over 
the plastic bead, using this glue and clamping.  Several years now and 
it's still holding tight.  

I have used this stuff with great result with wood-to-wood.

It claims to "Bond Virtually Everything" and it may be true.

The reason I bought it in the first place is that I needed some truly  
waterproof glue for an external wood trim problem at my house.

Made by Elmer's Products Inc. it's called ProBond Polyurethane Glue.

The only thing I don't like about this stuff is that if you get it on 
your fingers it almost has to wear off. And I have not been able to not 
get it on mine. Nor have I found anything that dissolves it (yet).  It 
says that acetone or mineral spirits will clean up "wet glue".  And it 
says to "wash hands immediately after use", which of course, you can't do 
if you're in the middle of gluing something together.  Rubber Gloves?

It also tends to "foam" or expand as it cures, so if you decide to try 
some, use it sparingly. Maybe brush it on rather than squirt in on.

Other than that.... I like it.
