Re: [A/S] "Beatrice Airstreams"

The approximate fix date for the rear tank/frame droop problem was 1976. Any
owner can check his trailer to verify whether is has the factory fix or been
field repaired. Look at the expose frame rails behind the tires. The fix was an L
shaped gusset plate added to this area. The gusset plate the factory installed
had approx. 1" diameter holes and was welded in place. The field repair had a
solid gusset plate bolted in place.

A couple of other things changed or tinkered with during the Beatrice era I am
aware of include:

In 1972-73 Beatrice tried to use a clearcote made by one of their subsidiaries
rather than the original formula. Didn't work. Most if not all those coaches have
long ago had their finishes redone.

In the mid 1982 model year a structure change was made that made the front and
rear sheet metal cap the same. This was also the time they changed from "shiny
metal" to "dull metal". Early on this change caused a problem with over stress
at the entry door. It typically showed up a tear in the outer skin above the
entry door. Don't know when that was fixed.
