A. J. We suggest that you take your Suburban furnace to someone that can 
repair it for you. First, there is a safety recall for the older units and 
yours could be one of them. The adjustments are easy to make but since your 
furnace has sooted up, it must be disassembled completely, and overhauled. 
Anything short of that is risking a major malfunction, that could result in 
severe damage to the unit that would require that it be replaced.        Lori
