[A/S] Airconditioner with heat

My Coleman A/C unit ('90 Excella) has a heat function built into it 
which I had never used until this weekend. I turned it on for a few 
minutes and got that 'dust burning off the coils' smell of a first 
time of the season use of an electric heating element. The fan was on 
but the air was luke hot at best. The question is how hot is the 
output supposed to be?
