[A/S] New Suburban furnace VS catalitic

It was 500 miles, a cave and a natural bridge in 2 days.
I knew if I went on ANY trip whatever bug that was still in there 
would show it's self. Hello Suburban! The motor burned up! and I 
never even turned it on, if anyone wants to know the details I will 
elaborate.
To the point, I need to make a decision about what to replace 
the "old tired one" with. A new Suburban is $450.00~, this one lasted 
34 years.
I have read about the catalytic heaters but I can't understand why 
they are $400 compared to the $100 units at Northern Tools. Maybe a 
mounting bracket and a hose but other than that why so much.
Another thing about catalitic heaters, I have used them years ago in 
a Starcraft Pop Up. You had to be careful where you put it because it 
would burn any combustible within about 3 feet. I sure couldn't put 
it back under the kitchen sink, my wife would surely have hot feet if 
I did, and besides it may burn the floor.
