Mary, If you want a pull down/roll up awning go to a RV place ready to pay
big bucks. If you are looking for something that requires poles, look for a
canvas shop in your area, something that does awnings for homes. Explain to
them that you want something for your RV, and it already has a standard
track already mounted on it. They should be happy to make you an awning any
size you desire, with the correct slider attached on the trailer end and
grommets for the poles. They should be able to sell you the needed poles
also. The normal size awning on a trailer is 6 or 7 feet deep and just as
long as your track is. On the smaller trailers some people have opted to
make it longer on the outside edge than the inside edge (the track), thus
giving them a little more room under the awning. I think that I paid $200
two years ago for mine which included 4 poles. Rope, and springs, are
available at a hardware store. I made rope tensioners out of an old broom
handle. It is clumsy at first, but with two people (and a much shorter
trailer to start with it should become easy with just a little practice.
