[A/S] Load rating for LT tires

I was looking for an idex for load ranges on light truck and trailers tires
that would explain the C or D rating.

Hunter replaced her trailer tires  with D's, if I remember correctly -  I'm
looking at an Excursion and they all come with Firestone tires - they may
not be the kind that have had the failures but...

I would like to replace them with all-seasons anyway rather than the
all-terrain LT265/75R16D that is on everyone I've looked at.  My local Sam's
Club has B.F. Goodrich and Michelin's that are C rated.  In any case I'm
interested in highway comfort and low noise, for my general use.  I should
stay with the tire size, speed and load ranges that originally comes as
manufacturer's stock - right??

Anyhow, I've looked at Tirerack.com and others on-line indexes but the load
ratings they show are numerical.
