Most of us carry an adapter to make the 30 amp plug fit a 20 amp
receptacle. On my SOB, its taped to the plug practically permanently.
your 30 amp plug pins are a great deal larger than any 20 amp receptacle
so unless you have an adapter on the plug it won't come close to fitting
a 20 amp receptacle. Not even with a 20 pound hammer adding push.

One local county campground had only about 21 pedestals for 43 parking
pads, none over 30. Its been rebuilt to my design this summer to have 43
pedestals close to each pad with 20, 30, and 50/240 volt receptacles for
each pad. The wiring system was overwhelmed last year by an invasion of
large motor homes that overloaded the transformer until its size was
doubled, and still the hottest week of the summer demanded more air
conditioning power than the system could supply. Its ready for another
such attack now. Likely the camping price will go up from last year's $8
a night to cover about $1000 a pad wiring and materials costs.

When doing the wiring, there's little savings to wiring it for the
minimum 5% 50 and 70% 30 amp receptacles to go back later for upgrade.
There's little that can be salvaged so its most cost effective in the
long run to wire it for all three at the beginning and be done.
