[A/S] What's under the sink?

The '73 Ambassador29' is in residence, and the work begins.

First Question:
The furnace was replaced and what's around the new one looks bogus and
there is no door at all. The shallow top compartment is still there with
its tambour. What was below that? Anyone with similar beast please
reply, or better yet post pix.

Second Question:
Any ideas about the sofa/bed across the front? Mine is gone, only stains
on the wall. I have seen pix of them, anyone got one? anyone ever build
one ?
