Hi Sandy, I've been enjoying your travel reports, as you make your way thru 
W. Canada.  When you mentioned snow in Peace River, I got a shiver up my 
spine (there but for for the grace of God - and a hundred odd miles, or so - 
go I!)  In Edmonton, we're currently enjoying a fifth day of steady rain, 
with temps hovering in the '50s.

Ah...but Kaslo!  I do love the Kootenays, and Southern B.C.  We spent most 
of July in and around that area and it really is "God's Country".  Alas, we 
also experienced rain (for 9 consecutive days, of the 24 days we were there, 
gulp).  One suggestion (since you don't have a wood-burning stove) is to 
cross the lake and spend a day at Ainsworth Hotsprings.  The water temp. is 
very hot and best of all, the existing facility is built around some natural 
caves (?caverns).  Wandering into the caves can be quite a trip - so dark, 
so many ledges and stalactites (?sic), why ya may just find someone to play 
gin rummy with (though this reserved Canuck found it unnerving to come 
across "still" bodies in various cave hideaways)!  If Ainsworth is not your 
"cup of tea", don't discount the Walmart perched on the lake, so reassuring 
to find a taste of home, even if it's pouring outside!

Putting another log on the fire tonight - in your honour!  Please keep your 
posts coming, between you and Hunter, y'all keep things interesting!
