Re: [A/S] California - September 1, 2000
Hi Gang,
I have gotten a few notes like this.... I need to explain. I have been to
California many times. I've been as far north as Shingletown and as far
south as Mexico and all points of interest between. I've been to SFO quite a
few times, driven highway 1 to Southern CA. Spent a few weeks in LA at a time
during one of many trips there... I was on a game show (The Joker's Wild) and
was fortunate enough to keep winning...for weeks. I have the dubious
distinction of being the all time winner... or in the all time woman
winner... in the top 5 all time. The show taped only on Thursdays so I had 6
days to explore. I've been to SFO at least 3 times. Spent a week in
Shingletown (near Redding) as a volunteer on a Mustang rescue sanctuary. I've
been to the Roy Rogers' Museum.... met and had a fun chat with Roy himself.
He was my all time hero. (c:
I've been to San Diego a few times, Del Mar, Tijuana. Talked briefly with
Clint Eastwood in Carmel. Was dazzled by Yosemite.
The year I went to Yosemite I had been in Europe..seen the Swiss Alps,
nothing compared to Yosemite for me. I've spent days down at Venice Beach....
a must for any California visitor!! LOL
My deal was the actual *drive* to California. I have always flown there....
driving there was the challenge. The point of this trip was to see all the
places I've always dreamed of seeing especially Jackson Hole, Yellowstone and
Cody..... and the various National Parks.
I don't want to hassle with the traffic in California. It's out of control.
For me it would be just seeing what I've already seen... that's why I'm
hanging a left at Santa Rosa. I've never been to Santa Rosa, it's one of the
few places left on my must see list.
So, don't worry that I'll be missing California... I've seen it. I love it.
I have invitations all over the state from friends who want me to visit....
it's just time to head back east. I miss my horses(and my donkey) and I miss
my friends and I miss my stuff.... I want to buy/build a cabin. I want to
have a yard for my dogs.
I need a spring/fall house.... I still will summer/winter in the Airstream.
I'm really amazed that I've been living in 25 feet for what will be a year
October 1st. I've put 30,000 miles plus on Bruiser in that year. I don't
want to give up the lifestyle, but I don't want to give up my stuff either...
so alternating every 3 months seems like the perfect solution.... I can have
my cake and eat it too (c:
I've thought about staying out west for the winter..... Southern CA or maybe
Arizona.... I am worried about my stuff.... are mice eating my paintings?
Are silverfish dining on my precious books? The units are climate
comtrolled... but maybe that just makes it more comfortable for the varmints.
I suppose staying west til spring is still a possibility...... I did have to
get back for my daughter's marriage, but that's been postponed... I'm leaving
my options open... who knows... I haven't made that left yet (c:
Hunter, who had two elk at the trailer door this morning. The pogs had to
cross their legs and wait to go out.
