Hi Tom, Apparently it is the design of the dish that allows both sending and receiving. I was very surprised also that this service would be offered without the use of phone lines. I don't have any other answers at this time as this information was obtained from the service provider in my area. At any rate, this will be a wonderful service for those of us who are on the road.
