Hi Hunter:

Hwy 34 goes over the TOP of Rocky Mountain National Park at about 12,000ft.,
not necessarily recommended with the trailer.  Beautiful breathtaking road -
took a friend from Hawaii up there(the top) last year, we sat an
photographed a bull elk at about 150ft but he wandered off after about 20
other cars pulled over and ran really close to take pictures.  Down the road
about 1/2 mile we stopped and watched a Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep with a
full curl rack slowly move down and cross the road about 75ft from us - same
thing happened with 20 cars + stopping and running!! up.  People should
approach these "wild" animals slowly - they won't get spooked - and you'll
ultimately get to see more.  I always carry several pair of binoculars - one
for everybody, as long as there aren't more that 6 people.  LOL  Bo)

Back to the subject, I recommend taking Colorado State Highway 14 at the
fork and going over Cameron Pass and down the Cache La Poudre canyon, very
scenic and it's a regular truck route, so very good roads.  Either way will
bring you by or through Fort Collins, where I live, drop me line if you
might have time to take a short break.

The elk are just beginning to bugle in the park and in a month the Aspens
will turn color too.
