I consider that road challenging in a Ferrari. The thing is, it's narrow in 
spots and there is no guard rail.... like the Independence Pass.... The truck 
is narrow.... the wide body trailer could have been a problem if the wrong 
wide thing was coming the other way.

When I drove that road it was a few years ago... I was driving a rental car, 
a Ford Explorer.  My daughter had her eyes closed she was so scared.  Just as 
I got off the scary part here came a huge motorhome... in the other 
direction.  I looked to be 9 feet wide and about 38 feet long.  I assume he 
made it.  If two of those had met one would not have made it and I wouldnlt 
want to have to back up on that road.  One slip and you fall off the edge of 
the earth.

The problem isn't the length, it's the width.... so far I have only driven 
one road that I could not have brought my 25 foot trailer... that was a 
gravel road in Olympic NP.  The turnbacks were so tight I worried about the 
long wheelbase truck not dropping a back wheel off the edge.

I think most places, like National Parks, will allow a 30 foot trailer..... 
just not any longer. If you want the 30' then by all means, get the 30'.  At 
most it could be a minor inconvenince... it certainly won't be a major 
problem.

I am not sure......eyeing I-80 and I-70, but I donlt really like interstates. 
So US 34 looks appealing..... 

The thing is I am going from Santa Rosa, CA east.... I think the weather 
might have something to do with it, I don't want to hit any snow.... if I 
start too late I may have to go further south.
