or some other thing like that.  I wrote to say the couch came in and
has been installed and looks just great.  And the cushions have some
oomph.  Halleluiah!  I am very pleased.  I was ready to march over to
day and ask why they weren't doing the other things that needed doing. 
I just could not understand why they wanted to wait for the couch to do
the whole thing at once.  Why not get all the rest done so that all
that was left would be to install the sofa.

Pretty simple answer: the other items had not been written up by the
original service writer.  The one I was talking to today, Dan, got out
clean work order sheet and started filling in the blanks.  The rest of
the work commences early tomorrow morning; before  this note gets
mailed.  With a grat deal of luck it gets done tomorrow.  In reality it
will get done Monday or Tuesday and I will then be off up through the
Detroit - Flint area to get a part credit at Hensley, pick up some
supplies from Camper World and then drive across the Upper Peninsula
into Ontario and then west across the Trans Canada to BC.  I lived for
two years in Montr‚al and started to want to make the western trek
then.  That was 25 years ago and now the silver salami and I are going
to do it.  I've some friends in BC to visit, a stop in Abbotsford for
some quick truck work and then home to PA to sell the house and then
south to Mexico for six months.

The Abbotsford stop will be to add a second auxiliary transmission oil
cooler.  I have watched the transmission oil temp climb up to 250F and
don't want to watch that again.  Pulling north from Baja California,
Mexico, I watched the temp gauge climb, too.  As there is an inline
thermostat I will not have the tranny running too cold.  It runs cool
now at around 150 - 180F under load with trailer on a hot day. 
Otherwise it rarely gets over 150F towing.  For those folks with
automatic transmissions who aren't sure they need a transmission oil
temperature gauge, price one alongside the price of a tranny.  There is
about a $2,850 difference.  It saved me a tranny pulling up a very,
very steep grade on the way to Payson, AZ.

So, in short, as it stands now AS seems to be stepping up to the plate
to do the right thing.  If it changes I will let you know.  The one big
glitch was the disconnect on the list of things needing to be done. 
Could there have been a quicker turnaround on the couch.  You bet.  But
there wasn't so there it is.  I did not like waiting.  I think it
should have been here quicker, but it wasn't.

As for the other things:  the door has been rehung for the sixth time,
this time with a new gasket.  It hangs straight now.  I will be
checking for leaks if it rains tonight.  The shop foreman says that the
new gasket should solve the problem.  He should know.  We may all now
tomorrow morning.

The other problems: wall leak, stove controls sticking, sloppy folding
table and hole in floor under the closet floor will be taken care of. 
The shower leak was worked on today.  The threshold was removed and all
around it was re-caulked.  I will know tomorrow by 6:30.

I will keep you all posted.  It does seems that hanging on with
patience has been the best course of action here.  What I have observed
is that service has folks for more skilled than the factory line and
that once they agree to fix something they will do it. 

Yes, I am happy and grateful to be approaching was is a succesful
conclusion to my time in Jackson Center.  I can be bought.   ;o)
