Hi John,

In my extensive travels (28,000 miles since October) diesel is cheaper 
everywhere (so far).... the thing is this engine cost $4,500 more than a gas 
engine..... and I pay approx $60.00 for oil changes every 3,500 miles. They 
recommend more miles between.... but as I am mostly towing I think this is 
best..... *They* want me to buy a new one... I want this one to last forever.

You don't save money with the diesel...... you do have an awesome beast 
pullling your trailer though.  You have to get used to the noise level..... I 
hear the new GM diesel will be almost silent. 

The other thing, at 100,000 miles my diesel will just be breaking in... at 
100,000 miles gas engines are getting tired.  I know I'm going to hear from 
people who have gas engines with 350,000 miles on them.... but as a rule 
people are more hesitant to buy a gas engine with 150,000 miles on it than a 
diesel with 150,000 miles on it.

My truck is a 4WD.... it's so powerful that the little bit of extra weight 
(500 lbs?) doesn't make a difference.  

At rally... most of the tow vehicles I see are *not* 4WD.  I think many 
Airstreamers do not go off road often...except at rallies (c:
They get pulled out with tractors when they get stuck in fields. 

In the last 10 months, since I got my truck, I have *needed* to use it 5 
times to get out of mud (Once towing my horses in their trailer)... and have 
used it maybe 5 more to climb up on the leveling blocks.  I stack them 
instead of pyramiding them. Works for me. 

I like having it, just like I like having more truck than I technically need. 
 I feel like I can handle all contingencies.
