Ted:
 I just looked at my tires. They are Michelin XCA 700:15. These tires are
especially made for trailers. They have a smaller profile, and give more
clearance in the wells. I noticed  a BIG difference from the old Goodyears
that I replaced .
Good luck with those lights.
If you are still having trouble, I will look at my shop manual.
