Not a stupid question... the answer is stupid.  The 1500 sort of means 1/2 
ton.  Once pon a time trucks were given numbers to show what their bed weight 
capacity was.

Basically 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton and 1 ton.  They still use the numbers, but they 
are no longer accurate.

What they really show now is simply which pickup and SUV is the lightest 
duty, meduium duty and heaviest duty.

So, yes...the 1500 (also C10 on older models) is saying it's the lightest 
truck in the series.
