Re: [a/s] newbie

Hi Don -

Welcome to the list and congratulations on the upcoming purchase of your
Airstream. If your '68 A/S is a 24', I believe that it is called a
Tradewind (and probably has dual axles)...Safari's from that era are 22' and
had single axles (later ones are 23' with dual axles)...there is a bit of
confusion regarding measuring standards on the older trailers...the model
name (and serial number) should be on a plate next to the door...

We have some pictures of our '66 26' on our website...should be pretty
similar inside...

I would recommend that you not tow an Airstream of that size with a 6 cyl.
Explorer if you have a choice. Although the tow rating of the vehicle is
probably high enough (barely), it will be seriously overmatched. You'd be
better off to get a larger vehicle with a V8 and a higher tow
rating...Expedition, Durango, Tahoe, Suburban, full-size PU, etc.

See you on the West Coast (of Michigan, that is...) LOL
