Verna,
There are two deadbolts on our '83 Excella.  The Dexter seems to have been
added and needs the key inside or outside to lock or unlock.  The other has
a knob on the inside.  When operated the bolt fits outside the screen door,
so you can lock the screen and leave the door open, ( for privacy or
security on a warm day?), or fits into the slots in the door frame when it
is closed.
