hi gang,

the dodge ram 3/4 ton is an insurance problem.  i am an ins. agent in ca. & or.
and my husband bought this truck last summer.  what a pain to insure all because
personal vehicle insurance has a 10K lb limit and the 3/4 ton is 11K lb.  most
carriers want to insure it as a "commercial" vehicle even though it's personal use
and that makes the premium twice as high!

we got lucky though.  since we own a vineyard we were able to obtain coverage for
$460 a year from country companies.  it's considered a farm vehicle.  suggestions
for people looking to insure a similar vehicle may want to check out their local
grange or "farm" type companies ie: Country Co., CalFarm etc.  they may require
memberships into the farm bureaus (avg: $30/yr) but it's usually well worth the
premium savings.
