Hi Laurie,

I'm a woman and I fulltime alone.  Well, two dogs and two cats isn't quite 
alone.

I stay in safe places..... campgrounds and occasionally a Walmart lot.

I never stay in highway rest stops.  

I lock the door at night of course.

One other thing I do is I always put a big dog water dish right outside my 
door..... I think having a dog is a safety measure.... having a dog dish 
outside the door is, even if you don't have a dog.  A suggestion from a woman 
in RVin' Women is to put a large pair of men's boots outside the door.

I did carry a gun, I don't anymore.  No need, and I could shoot one of the 
dogs accidently.

I also have a cell phone and a CB.  If I were to break down I would use the 
cell phone NOT the CB, you don't know who could be listening in and get your 
location.  

I have never had a reason to be scared.... if yuo have basic street smarts 
you will be fine.
