[a/s] re old vs new:/ was Preserving the Plasticote
It's funny that this came up just now. We 'visited' our Bambi at the storaae
lot on Sunday. It had been about a month since we had ret'd it to storage
and we just wanted to see how 'she' was doing and to air her out. The
interior was nice and cool, even tho hot outside, and needed no airing.
Anyway, while we were driving out past some of the vintage A/S there I asked
Tom if he wished we had found one of the vintage small A/S instead of going
into debt for the '98 Bambi. He agreed that that would have been nice -
there are some really nice looking small vintage there. Then immediately I
realized it wouldn't have worked for us - we're the type who buy a house
that's been refurbished and then it goes downhill from there. Tom can fix
anything but is not a tinkerer at heart, either. He and his brother built a
40-fr trimaran sailboat (I helped) years ago. but, unfortunately, he repairs
nothing around the house.
BTW, one little (14 or 16') A/S at the storage always has the door hanging
open and looks as tho it's being redone inside. It has the metal plate next
to the door that has the pic of the bicycle towing the trailer but it is
getting pretty well deteriorated, seems it is a decal on metal - not etched.
It had a number that started 41 XX ######. I wondered if that meant it
is a 1941 trailer?
