Re: [a/s] Net Connections on the Road
I use a Sharp TM-20 and a Motorola digital on analog mode for some of my
mail. It works pretty well, but you can't send or recieve attachments, and
you can't surf the net, although a service called grab-page at grabpage.com
allows you to get pages in text form. I can see that in future I will need
to get set up with a powerbook/notebook pc to cell phone modem to do my
normal web activities and such. Most useful is that you can use almost any
phone and a 1-800 to access your messages, so that any phone you are near is
a potential source of e-mail. It's also very reasonably priced. I got my
unit on sale, and my month to month cost is less than $8.00/mo for unlimited
messages both ways. If you had a modem in the "early days" you may be
amused, as we were, by the way the TM-20 device interfaces with the phone.
