[a/s] instant RV water heaters /anyone have the Precision Temp

Here is one I bet very few of you have dealt with:

Have any of you had the "Precision Temp" instant hot
water heater installed in your trailer??
We had one put in at Camping World about 3 years ago.
The cost with installation was about 1000.00. I am
curious what others think about the product. I notice
Camping World no longer carries it.
I am very interested in what others feel about the
performance of this brand of instant hot water heater.

We felt at the time the cost was worth it for the
trade-off of "all the hot water a person could use".
We had our "dependable" 10 gallon Suburban water
heater taken out to put this unit in. They had to cut
the hole bigger, to accommodate this unit, so there is
no returning to the Suburban.

The performance of the Precision Temp is wonderful,
except if there is the slightest little whiff of wind,
which is rare in Arizona and the southwest. Any breeze
and the performance becomes extremely unreliable and
erratic. If there is no wind, you couldn't ask for a
better hot water source! I have worked with the
manufacture of this unit so much, on the problem, I
know they don't even want me to call anymore. The
design of this unit is a great idea, but they
obviously never used it in the "field", in situations
encountered by average RVing! I have designed, tore
down, and designed again so many different wind
deflectors I might as well be working for Nasa. I have
got the thing to work somewhat, but it will never be
dependable. The wind problems effecting a normal
Suburban gas water heater, are trivial compared to how
the wind effects this thing. It gives new meaning to
the word "temperamental"!!!

I have always wondered what other people thought of
it. I did notice a few years back that it was an
optional water heater for the new Airstreams. I know
our unit is not a "lemon" as after about 3 trips to
Camping World, I made them order another unit from the
manufacturer that was personally inspected by the
owners. They installed it, and took the first one out.
The new one does not perform any differently than the
first one did. We are just reconciled to deal with it
at this point and try to forget all the inconvenience
we have had and 1000.00 dollars it cost us! Let alone
the mornings you can't get a drop of hot water out of
it!
Any comments anyone......
