There has been some discussion here about after market heating elements
attached to hot water heaters.

I found two interesting sites.  One is the Atwood site that makes the Atwood
hot water heater.  The relevant URL is:

The second is an RV discussion forum similar to this one.  There is an
extensive interchange among various people on the pros and cons of after
market additions to hot water heaters.  The URL is:

The bottom line as I read all this stuff is that the Hott Rod will void the
Atwood warranty.  Some think it is dangerous, others have used it without
problem and think it is terrific.  There are a number of concerns the most
important of which I think is insuring that the thermostat which has to be
attached to the water tank never comes off.
