I use Handy Hanger.  It is a system with uses heat activated glue.  It comes
with all the fixings to hang stuff.  Then if you want to remove the hanger
you place the heat applicator on the hanger and it is removed and a quick
wipe with a rag removes the residue glue.

It has worked reasonably well for me.
