Chris,

As I understand it, you will still be dependent on phone lines to
your ISP or theirs. What the satellite will provide is downloads.
And you are correct at very fast speeds. The receiver would have
to have a transmitter capable of communicating with the
satellite. If I am wrong about that, someone please correct me. I
hope I am wrong, but I think that is still off in the future for
the average consumer.

The company offers three levels of service: $29.99 per month for
25 hours, $49.99 per month for 100 hours, and $129.99 a month for
200 hours of service. The cost is about that of ISDN and other
fast services. Sound expensive compared to regular ISP costs, but
that is probably measuring only the download times and 25 hours
may be more time than the average user would use considering the
400 Kbps download time promised.
