Re: [a/s] RE: Austin

We visited Big Bend one March when we had kids still in school and it was a
blast. We went during Spring Break so it wouldn't be too crowded. Well,
everyone and their families decided to come also. We spent in wonderful week
in the overflow area in tents. (Before Airstream) The buzzards were amazing.
My son laid down on the ground and was very still. When asked what he was
doing he said he was trying to see if they would come light on him. While he
was lying there something white and a lot of it fell on his face. We were
all laughing so hard. But it turned out to be toothpaste. A Boy Scout Troop
had been camping next to us and one had dropped his toothpaste when they
broke camp. A car driving by had smashed the container so hard the contents
had flown over our tent and landed on him. He was 17 at the time. LOL

I got some great pictures of the stars while there also. If you put a camera
on a tripod with fresh batteries, place it where no light can get to it, (I
put mine out in the brush where no one could find it) point it at the North
star, and open the shutter for the duration of the batteries, you will get a
picture of the stars as they cross the sky and have a great picture. Usually
takes about 5 hours.

Have fun on your trip.
