[a/s] Furnace on door side

Here is an idea for you people who have furnaces on the same side as your
door and the door opens to cover the furnace vents.  How about putting an
extended door stop on the door so that when the door stop is flipped out  it
stops the door an appropriate distance from the furnace vent so that no
damage is done to the door and also adequate ventilation for the furnace is
achieved?
